The Kivalliq Hydro-Fibre Link unlocks the economic potential of the Kivalliq region and promotes reconciliation with the Inuit, ensuring the future prosperity of Nunavut and Canada.
The Inuit of the seven Kivalliq communities will own 51% of this joint venture.
Over 10,000 residents will have access to affordable fibreoptic broadband service for the first time, modernizing the region’s telecommunications systems and enabling future economic development.
A modern fibreoptic network will facilitate the delivery of government services and improve every day life for Nunavummiut, allowing tele-healthcare visits, expanded e-business and greater educational opportunities.
The project will create 300 jobs during construction and 30 permanent jobs during operations.
